Gabriela Schanz

Gabriela Schanz is a Research Associate at the WZB in the Department of Migration, Integration, and Transnationalization, where she also supports the third-party funded project DeZIM Research Community.

Ms. Schanz holds a Master’s degree in International Relations (Political Science and International Law) with a specialization in migration from TU Dresden, as well as a Bachelor's degree in European Studies and Political Science from the University of Passau. She has eight years of experience working at the intersection of academia and policy, with a particular focus on migration. Her professional background includes positions at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), where she contributed to the Global Programme on Displacement and the Centers for Migration and Development, as well as at the German Bundestag, where she served as a Research Associate on human rights in the office of a Member of Parliament.
